Postal codes in San Marino
Codice di avviamento postale (Italian for “postal code”; CAP) is the Italian postal code system created in 1967. It consists of five digits: the first two indicate the administrative province (sometimes shared by two or more provinces after 1967); the third indicates whether the city is the capital of the province (odd number, usually 1 or 9, such as 07100 for Sassari) or not (even number, usually 0 or 8, such as 10015 for Ivrea); and the last two digits indicate a specific town or village (only in provinces created after 1992), the delivery post office, or, in large cities such as Rome, Milan, Naples or Venice, the city postal district (usually 00 or 70 in smaller provincial capitals). San Marino and Vatican City have been included in the Italian postal code system.
